Karoo Farm Holidays at Hillandale -- Conservation
We are currently helping to form a conservancy for the Riverine Rabbit (Bunolagus Monticularis) which is one of three endangered mammals in South Africa, along with the wild dog and the roan antelope.
The Riverine Rabbit is considered the most endangered of the three as it is the only one not presently conserved in proclaimed nature reserves where they occur naturally. These rabbits are only found in the Karoo in an area from Beaufort West through Victoria West, Loxton to Calvinia.
With the help of Cape Nature Conservation we are creating the conservancy in order to restore the natural habitat and to prevent further loss of these special creatures.
Please contact us if you would like more information on how you can become involved with this conservation project.
